The 75th Italian Open
The Gardagolf Country Club will host the 75th Italian Open. The Presidency Council met in Rome at the headquarters of the Italian Golf Federation. The tournament will be played from May the 31st to June the 3rd, preceded by Pro Am on May 30th. (GO TO THE GARDA GOLF CARD)
The highest national golf event will therefore return for the fourth consecutive time in Italy, Lombardy after the three editions of the Golf Club Milano, it will offer seven million dollars for the second consecutive year, which will keep until 2027.
This year too, a large field is expected with the presence of many internationally renowned champions who will be on show in Wentworth for the prestigious BMW PGA Championship.
The importance of the Open of Italy, which is the spearhead of the Ryder Cup Project 2022, is growing ever more, the path of Italian golf towards the challenge between Europe and the United States, scheduled in five years in Rome, at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.
For Italy, as in the last season, there will be two tournaments on the European Tour calendar: the 75th Italian Open will in fact be preceded by Rocco Forte Open – Verdura, Sicily, which will take place from 10 to 13 May at Verdura Resort of Sciacca (Agrigento). Within a month, Italy will therefore have a double window that will increase its international appeal, enhancing the territory in tourism, another of the cardinal points of the Ryder Cup Project 2022. The course – Opened in 1986, the Gardagolf Country Club was designed by the British architects Cotton, Pennik Steel & Partners. The 27 holes of the three routes extend over an area of 110 hectares between the Rocca di Manerba, the castle of Soiano and the hills of Valtenesi with a panoramic view of extraordinary beauty on Lake Garda.
