A golf club is used to hit the ball and is formed by:
The clubs are divided in:
WOOD: useful for long shot from fairway or tee;
IRONS: more versatile clubs useful for different type of shot;
PUTTER used to roll the ball on the green up into the hole.
In official golf competitions, a maximum of 14 clubs are allowed to be carried in the bag. If you want to start playing you do not necessarily need to have all these clubs in the bag, you just need to have:
3 Irons (5-7-9 or 4-6-8);
1 Sand wedge;
1 Pitch wedge;
The loft, is the angle between the club’s face and the vertical and it is the element that creates the fundamental difference between clubs. In fact, the difference of the inclination of the loft allows the ball to rise more or less from the ground and to fly with more or less tense.
Each club has a specific name or is marked by a number or one or more letters and it differs mainly from the shaft, from the head and with a different loft:
Wedge (Sand wedge e Pitching Wedge) have a loft from 60° to 48°
Iron (from 3 to 9) have a loft from 47° to 24°
Fairway (7, 5 e 3) have a loft from 23° to 15°
Driver haveloft from 14° to 7°
The shift of these clubs will have a length that will grow proportionally from the smallest (wedge) to the longest (Driver). A higher number corresponds to a higher loft and therefore a smaller shot distance.
Golf Bag / Cart:
There are different Golf bag:
The same can be carried on the shoulder or placed in carts that we can divide into:
(golf shoesf, golf ball, golf gloves ..)
Usually the equipment, needed to start playing golf, is offered by the Club to the beginners, for free use, during the lessons. After some golf lessons, having passed the rules exam, when we feel ready to finally enter in a golf course, we may need some other accessory to buy and we will list some of them below:
There are many other accessories for golf (Watches / GPS Pads, Rangefinders, umbrellas, hat, head cover) that can both customize and facilitate the game of golf, but it is the individual golfer, his way of playing, his experience, that will assess if and which ones to use.
Golf does not provide a uniform like clothing, but every course in the world has different rules to follow. Some very traditionalist Clubs claim clothing obligations, others give much more space. In the Pro-shops or in other shops for golf there is a great variety of clothing, for all tastes and for all budgets. We recommend evaluating, as a primary element in the purchase, the comfort. Remember that a golf game can last more than 5 hours, and that you can travel even 6/7 kilometers in a single day.
